James C Atkins, born in Warburton and raised in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, discovered his love for music at a young age. Starting with the saxophone at 7, he sang in school and church choirs before finding his true passion with the guitar at 15. This newfound love led him to songwriting, a way to express his teenage emotions. Over the next 15 years, James honed his skills in writing, performing, and production, developing a powerful, soulful voice and a deep commitment to his craft.

 

In 2024, James made his mark with the release of his debut single “Up Jump The River,” which climbed to the top 10 on AMRAP regional radio charts. Later that year, he followed up with “Brighter Skies,” gaining airplay on ABC’s grassroots and ABC Country rotation.
